It has been a question mooted over 100 years ago, “will the British Colony of New Zealand do as Tasmania has done, and join the British Colony of the commonwealth of Australia?” Of course, when it was first proposed the answer wouldn’t have meant much anyway - New Zealand, whether part of Australia or not, was going to be ruled from London. It looks like John Key’s had a bit of an issue with his “ooh ooh look at meeeeeee!!!!” DVD. EMI was uncomfortable that the track used was too similar to Coldplay’s “Clocks”, and demanded that it was pulled. In typical National party fashion, no-one bothered to check whether or not it might have been an issue, and very reasonably it’s “the production company’s fault”.
Poor poor Johnny Boy. Maybe it’s time for some copyright reform, eh? 
This is Gena, a black lab puppy. She’s not actually ours, but we’re looking after her for a year.
Gena’s a guide dog puppy. Because there is such a long waiting list, the Foundation can’t look after every puppy. That’s where we come in. What we do is look after her, and that helps to socialise her, get her prepared for the real job, and also to assess whether or not there are any potential problems.

So Google’s trying to expand, and they’re now thinking a pacific cable would be a good idea. It makes sense, comparatively cheap, high levels of bandwidth. Plus there’s more competition for more bandwidth. So it’ll be a boon for those who are near it. It’s just a shame that neither it nor Telstra’s planned cable hit New Zealand, so no competition for ridiculously high bandwidth prices for us just yet. Which is a shame, because ISPs have to pay through the nose for bandwidth, here’s an example. Maybe some good will come out of it, as I was saying to smithy_dll if Sydney bandwidth prices drastically fall, and someone lays a competing Auckland <-> Sydney cable, we might just see some benefit too.
But even if that does happen, it’s still not satisfactory for us. We’d still have to pay for Australian transit, which generally ain’t cheap, and tends to add lag. Hopefully Google or Telstra will have a change of heart. Hopefully.

I hate the first post in blogs. They’re tacky, and have no worthwile content but you’ve got to have them to establish the blog itself.
